Study Q210011. Icon/Text Buttons
Question -
Ignoring hypertext or hyperlinks for a moment, there is much disagreement when it comes to using icons or text buttons for navigation bars on Web sites. Some people say text buttons are preferable to icons because the meaning of icons can sometimes be unclear. Others say that icons are better because they look better and make the site look less cluttered.

When visiting a Web site that you are relatively new to, what type of navigation tools do you prefer?

4042428A combination of both text and icon should be a better option. Text sometimes can’t standalone without icon and vice versa. Need to be precise as possible.Adrian Chew MalaysiaM38

4043595icons will keep reader interested but could be misleading so it would be ideal to add the button with text description right on top of it to make for a better clear and understandable readimogeneNamibiaF28

4043542mouse-over with text is always lively !GIndiaM63
4042844Icons probably ain't that bad. I do prefer text on buttons because they usually give a better understanding where they are leading, especially if you are on a site which you are not sure if you understand the language used on it.PetrusSouth AfricaM48
